a stroll through town

Maybe it's the theater girl in me, but I love a well-themed ensemble. Not to the point where I feel like I'm walking around in a costume or anything - I'll wait to do that when I fulfill my dream job of working at Disneyland - but rather something that makes me feel at home among the scenery. So when my boyfriend told me we'd be visiting a town that looked like an old Western film I had to bust out the strappy feather-trimmed sandals, burnished gold accessories and sunset-red dress.

Winthrop, WA in all it's Western-themed splendor

sun-ready dress in rustic hues | braided faux leather belt | feather-adorned sandals
tortoise sunnies | menswear-style watch | delicate gold jewelry | crossbody bucket bag

~ The Facts ~
  • When I'm sightseeing I always try to keep comfort in the equation. Be sure to take weather, long car rides and walking into consideration. If it's going to be a scorcher definitely choose something in cotton to ensure a cool, breezy feel.
  • This dress, which I've had for a few years, has a nice relaxed fit below the stretch waist...which also happens to be the perfect spot for a belt!
  • If you're accessorizing consider dainty gold jewelry. It can go with practically anything. I wore the same necklace, earrings, watch and rings all weekend.
  • And always opt for a crossbody bag. Chances are you'll be shopping (who am I kidding...of course you'll be shopping) and lugging around a heavy tote on your arm can be a bit precarious when you're perusing the local glassblower's shop...
